Lovesexy album signed by Prince and 'The 87-89 Band' at Well-Documented July 1988 London Record Store Appearance

Stunning original 1988 UK vinyl pressing of Prince’s tenth studio album ‘Lovesexy’ signed on the front cover in various coloured inks by Prince, Levi Seacer, Jr., Doctor Fink, Atlanta Bliss, Miko Weaver, and Eric Leeds. The signatures were obtained on 29 July 1988 at a rare in-store signing at HMV Oxford Street, London. This was during the first leg of Prince’s 1988-1989 Lovesexy Tour. Comes with a letter of provenance from the original recipient that reads: ‘Here are the details of how I obtained the signed Lovesexy Album by Prince. In July 1988 aged 19 I queued at HMV in central London on my lunch break as I worked in Hatton Garden. I had heard on the radio that he was there it was July 29th. Prince and the other members of the band present signed the Lovesexy Album that I bought on the way in the shop. I had attended a concert a few days before at Wembley Arena to see Prince. I spoke to Prince and told him how amazing the show had been. He said “Thank you so much” and was very sweet. This was a very memorable moment, and I won’t forget it.’ Includes a modern color print of Prince arriving at the HMV signing.

In December 1987, following a spiritual epiphany in which Prince was convinced that ‘The Black Album’ was evil, he quickly reentered the studio and recorded a much more positive album in ‘Lovesexy’. The album was recorded in just seven weeks at Prince's new Paisley Park Studios, and was primarily a solo effort by Prince. The album was supported by the critically acclaimed Lovesexy Tour, which traversed the globe from 8th July 1988 to 13th February 1989. During his lifetime, Prince had been a notoriously reluctant signer. As such, authentically signed albums by Prince are exceedingly rare, and this is an outstanding example captured at the apex of his career. The cover and original vinyl record are in excellent condition.  A pristine Prince example, accomplished in his iconic bold purple ink, and bolstered by impeccable provenance—the complete package!

Accompanied by Letters of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS), James Spence Authentication (JSA), Roger Epperson (REAL), and Tracks, Ltd.
