One of the most iconic songs in rock history, penned by Bob Dylan himself!
Incredible Bob Dylan handwritten lyrics for his classic “Blowin' in the Wind.” The manuscript is written in black ballpoint, on one page of St. Regis of New York letterhead, titled at the top, “Blowing in the Wind,” and pristinely signed at the conclusion, "Bob Dylan, 2011.”
The lyrics read, in full: “How many roads must a man walk down Before you call him a man / How many seas must a white dove sail / Before she sleeps in the sand / How many times must the cannonballs fly / Before they’re forever banned / The answer my friend / is blowing in the wind / The answer is blowing in the wind. How many years must a mountain exist / Before it is washed to the sea / How many years must some people exist / Before they’re allowed to be free / How many times must a man turn his head / And pretend he just does not see / The answer my friend is blowing in the wind / The answer is blowing in the wind. How many times must a man look up / Before he can see the sky / How many ears must one man have / Before he can hear people cry / How many deaths will it take til he knows / That too many people have died / The answer my friend is blowing in the wind / The answer is blowing in the wind.” In fine condition.
Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA) and a letter of provenance on “Bob Dylan Music Co” letterhead from Dylan’s manager, Jeff Rosen.
Originally released in 1963 on the legend’s second studio album, “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan,” “Blowin’ in the Wind,” is an iconic protest song posing questions about war, peace, and freedom. Considered by some to be the anthem of the Civil Rights movement, the soulful song was ranked #14 on “Rolling Stone” magazine’s list of the “500 Greatest Songs.” The Nobel Prize winner’s words have stood the test of time, and similar handwritten lyrics have sold for upwards of $100,000. An absolutely iconic piece of pop culture history worthy of a place in the most accomplished of music collections.
