Michael Jordan dominated the NBA for as long as he was in it, winning 6 NBA titles with 6 NBA Finals MVPs. Not to mention he was the greatest scorer of all time with 10 scoring titles, 5 MVP Awards and also won a Defensive Player of the Year in 1988. Michael Jordan retired on April 16, 2003 from basketball and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009. Wayne Gretzky joined the Edmonton Oilers in 1979 and the rest was history. He was the first player to get 200 points in a single season. Gretzky led the Oilers to win the Stanley Cup four times. Gretzky won 10 Art Ross Trophies as the NHL's leading scorer, nine Hart Trophies as the League's MVP, and two Conn Smythe Trophies as playoff MVP. Gretzky closed out his hockey career with 894 goals and 1,963 assists for a total of 2,857 points. Seven months after his retirement, Gretzky was inducted into the Hockey Hall in 1999. Gretzky's jersey number 99 was retired NHL-wide.
